Pappel, Weide, Robinie und Paulownia

Pappel, Weide, Robinie und Paulownia
The so-called short-rotation woods/short-rotation planting, SRP, (=energy wood) of fast growing trees in arable or grassland areas are more and more frequently considered as an addition to biomass obtained from forests. Growing prices and demands of the construction timber industry make these energy woods a reasonable and necessary alternative!

Miscanthus/Elefantengras

Miscanthus/Elefantengras
Miscanthus x giganteus, also known as elephant grass or Chinese grass, can provide even about 10-20% higher harvest than poplars, when planted on good arable lands, such as grain-maize fields. Another advantage of this “Jumbo Grass” is dry harvest material (10-15%) when harvesting in April and using conventional maize choppers for harvesting. However, when combustioning, you must put a burner, such as silicon, lumping, onto this fuel, and it produces a considerably higher ash content than expected with timber.

Sida hermaphrodita (Sida east)

Along with farmers, more and more private gardeners discover energy plant Miscanthus x giganteus (also known as elephant grass or giant Chinese reed) for their garden designs.
As a natural hedgerow, for large grass beds or as solitary grass, as the enclosure of garden biotopes and ponds, or also in a flowerpod on terraces, this miscanthus-variety looks very attractively (almost as attractively as my daughter in the picture on the right).
